About the Opportunity-
Our client is seeking an Operations Accountant to support accounting and financial reporting activities for its mining operations. This role will work closely with site operations, procurement, maintenance, and corporate finance teams to ensure accurate reporting of operating costs, inventory, capital projects, and financial performance.
What You Will Do-
Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and working papers. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Monitor and analyze mine operating costs, including labour, equipment, fuel, maintenance, and contractor expenses. Track and report production costs and key operating metrics. Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Maintain inventory accounting for consumables, parts, and materials. Support capital project accounting, capitalization, and asset tracking. Reconcile inventory movements and investigate discrepancies. Process and review vendor invoices, accruals, and purchase order transactions. Collaborate with operations teams to improve cost controls and reporting accuracy. Prepare financial reports for site leadership and corporate management. Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as required. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
What You Come With-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation completed or in progress preferred. Two to five years of accounting experience, ideally within mining, energy, construction, manufacturing, or industrial operations. IFRS experienced required, US GAAP is an asset. Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting. Strong understanding of month-end close and financial reporting processes. Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis. Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Pronto, or similar. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment and manage competing priorities. Exposure to project accounting and capital expenditure tracking.
