What you’ll be doing

CIBC National Accounts is a team of banking professionals focused on corporate lending for public and large private businesses. The team specializes in structuring and managing syndicated credit facilities and complex structured transactions.

As an Associate, you will play an integral role in supporting senior bankers across the origination, structuring, execution, and ongoing management of senior credit facilities for a diversified portfolio of corporate clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex transactions, gain direct client exposure, and build deep expertise in corporate lending and credit analysis.

How you’ll succeed

  • Transaction Execution

    • Support due diligence for new and existing credit transactions
    • Assist in the structuring and execution of senior credit facilities
    • Help prepare credit submissions, information memoranda, and client presentation materials
  • Analysis and Underwriting

    • Analyze financial statements, operating performance, and market data
    • Build and maintain financial models
    • Conduct credit, industry, and business analysis to support lending recommendations
  • Portfolio Management

    • Assist in the ongoing monitoring of approved credit arrangements
    • Track compliance with terms and conditions and identify relevant changes in client financial performance or business conditions
    • Support account management activities in line with risk management guidelines
  • Client and Partner Collaboration

    • Participate in client discussions to understand financing needs and support proposal development
    • Work closely with internal partners across Loan Syndications, Investment Banking, Trading, Risk Management, and Legal
    • Build strong working relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and industry contacts

Who you are

  • You have a degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional designation such as CPA, CBV, or CFA is considered a strong asset.
  • You have 2–4 years of relevant experience in corporate lending, accounting, transaction advisory, investment banking, private credit, or a similar analytical finance role.
  • You have strong skills in financial statement analysis, accounting, and financial modeling
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have experience with corporate credit products, syndicated lending, or loan assessment (preferred).
  • You have knowledge of valuation, M&A, derivatives, and competitive/industry analysis (preferred).
  • You are detail-oriented and intellectually curious.
  • You are a self-starter with sound judgment.
  • You are t eam-oriented and relationship-focused.
  • You are client-focused. You are committed to delivering strong client outcomes.
