About the role

Chubb is currently seeking a Underwriter/Senior Underwriter to join our Healthcare team.

As a Underwriter/ Senior Underwriter, responsibilities will include managing a renewal book and generating new business. The position will be responsible for driving profitable growth. Territory includes all of Canada. Products include General Liability and Professional Liability (medical malpractice E&O). Products include guaranteed cost and Loss Sensitive structures. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, results oriented, with solid business and underwriting acumen.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for growth in the assigned territory.

  • Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Evaluate new and renewal medical professional liability risks. Analyze submissions, financial statements, loss history, and other relevant information to assess risk exposure.

  • Recommend appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions based on risk assessment, actuarial guidelines, and market conditions to ensure profitability.

  • Prepare and review policy documents for accuracy and compliance.

  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell Chubb products and services. Facilitate cross-selling efforts by collaborating with other departments and supporting field teams.

  • Provide expert support to brokers and clients as a central contact for escalated inquiries, negotiations, and issue resolution. Build strong, long-term relationships through exceptional service.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, competitor activities, and regulatory changes within the medical liability sector.

  • Work closely with underwriting team members, claims professionals, risk control specialists, and marketing/sales colleagues to achieve business objectives and deliver comprehensive solutions.

  • Ensure adherence to all underwriting guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate and compliant documentation throughout the underwriting process.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 4 or more years of underwriting experience, including demonstrated ability to handle middle market and/or large risks.

  • Helpful prior experience in underwriting medical malpractice or casualty coverage.

  • Demonstrated ability to forge strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, showing accountability for measurable results.
