About the role
Overview We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to help deliver a complex Azure migration program. The role will coordinate the movement of workloads from existing Azure environments into a strategic greenfield Azure platform, with a focus on delivery control, stakeholder coordination, migration readiness, governance cleanup, and operational handover. This is not a hands-on Azure engineering role. Technical architecture and migration execution will be led by Azure specialists. This person will make sure the work is planned, tracked, coordinated, reported, and completed. This is a 5 month contract to start role for our client in Downtown, Toronto, 1 day in office.
Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day delivery planning for Azure migration waves, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and decisions. Coordinate workload discovery with application owners, business stakeholders, Azure SMEs, platform teams, and support teams. Track migration readiness, including ownership, tagging, cost allocation, prerequisites, approvals, and governance requirements. Support migration wave planning, cutover readiness, go/no-go meetings, stakeholder communications, and post-migration follow-up. Prepare clear project reporting for sponsors and senior stakeholders, including progress, blockers, risks, decisions, and acceptance status. Coordinate operational transition so migrated workloads have support ownership, documentation, monitoring, backup, and escalation paths in place. Required Experience 7+ years delivering technology projects or programs. Experience with cloud, infrastructure, application, or platform migration projects. Strong project management, business analysis, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience coordinating technical teams, business owners, vendors, contractors, or distributed delivery teams. Strong understanding of risks, issues, dependencies, governance, change management, service transition, and operational readiness. Comfortable working with Azure concepts, cloud operating models, infrastructure, identity, networking, security, backup, and disaster recovery topics. Preferred Qualifications Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or equivalent practical cloud knowledge. PMP, Prince2, Agile PM, PMI-ACP, or similar certification. Experience with Azure migrations, landing zones, cloud governance, CMDB, asset management, or FinOps. Candidate Profile Highly organized, structured, and detail-oriented. Able to create order from ambiguity and drive follow-through across multiple teams. Strong communicator who can work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Comfortable challenging assumptions, clarifying ownership, and escalating blockers. Delivery-focused, pragmatic, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment.
