About the role

At Schneider Electric, we believe great finance professionals do more than report numbers. They help drive business decisions, influence outcomes, and create meaningful impact across an organization.

We are looking for an Associate Controller to join our Canadian Accounting team in Milton, Ontario. Reporting to the Head of Accounting, Canada, this role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of one of the most strategic accounting areas within the business: inventory accounting in a dynamic manufacturing and distribution environment.

As a key member of the Finance organization, you will partner closely with Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain, Planning, and Business Finance teams across Canada to provide financial insights, strengthen controls, and support informed decision-making. You will play a highly visible role in inventory governance, working capital management, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives across multiple Canadian locations.

This position is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with business partnership, analytical problem-solving, and continuous improvement. If you are looking for an opportunity to become a trusted advisor, influence operational and financial outcomes, and build a path toward future finance leadership opportunities, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

Take ownership of inventory accounting across multiple Canadian operations, ensuring the accuracy of inventory balances, reserves, reconciliations, and related financial reporting while supporting inventory and working capital management reviews. Partner with Site Controllers, Finance Business Partners, Planning, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to understand inventory drivers, provide financial insights, and support informed business decisions. Prepare and present inventory-related analyses, helping stakeholders understand inventory trends, risks, and key drivers impacting financial and operational performance. Prepare monthly group reporting packages and perform variance analysis of financial statements, collaborating with controlling teams to develop meaningful commentary on business performance and financial results. Review and analyze revenue and cost of goods sold (COGS) to ensure financial accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business activities. Prepare, review, and approve key account reconciliations for assets and liabilities, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation and timely resolution of outstanding items. Assist with the review, resolution, and optimization of intercompany transactions and support internal and external audit requirements. Develop and enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and finance transformation initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, standardization, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring

Significant experience in accounting, financial reporting, or audit, including inventory accounting experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or other inventory-intensive environment, with exposure to inventory reconciliations, reserves, and inventory-related analysis. Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and SAP ECC, with experience using ERP systems to support accounting, reporting, and inventory management activities. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, IFRS, and internal controls. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Finance, Operations, Planning, Supply Chain, and other business stakeholders to support decision-making and solve complex business challenges. Experience working in a complex, multi-site environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate financial and accounting information into clear and actionable business insights. Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and contribute in a dynamic environment. A continuous improvement mindset with experience supporting process optimization, automation, standardization, or finance transformation initiatives.
