Job Description: Role Summary The Senior Manager, Capital Optimization is accountable for identifying, advancing, and delivering opportunities to optimize capital allocation across the commercial loan book. This role leads analysis and execution across BRR and FRR modeling efficiencies, FRR value quality, risk transference opportunities, and other strategies to reduce capital intensity while maintaining strong risk discipline and business outcomes. The role operates at the intersection of capital management, commercial strategy, portfolio analytics, and enterprise risk, translating strategic capital objectives into executable initiatives. The Senior Manager partners closely with executive leadership, Finance, Treasury, Risk, Credit, Technology, Operations, and front-line business partners to ensure capital decisions are analytically grounded, commercially practical, compliant, and scalable. This role reports to the AVP Commercial Lending Product - and acts as a senior decision‑maker for capital optimization priorities, issue escalation, and delivery trade‑offs. Key Accountabilities Lead Commercial Lending Capital Optimization Strategy Own and evolve the Commercial Lending capital optimization strategy for the commercial loan book in partnership with senior leadership, aligned to enterprise capital objectives, risk appetite, and business strategy. Identify, assess, and prioritize opportunities to improve capital allocation, reduce capital intensity, and enhance RWA efficiency without compromising prudent risk management. Develop actionable recommendations to improve return on capital, portfolio efficiency, and risk-adjusted performance, aligned with enterprise risk appetite and commercial priorities. Recommend enhancements to pricing, credit models, RAROC methodology, BRR and FRR processes, and broader risk frameworks to support better capital outcomes. Support alignment across Commercial segmentation, product mix, portfolio strategy, and capital treatment to identify opportunities for improved capital productivity. Seek efficiencies in BRR and FRR modeling, working with model, risk, finance, and technology partners to identify process, data, methodology, and governance improvements. Identify, investigate, and resolve issues with FRR values sent to capital, ensuring data quality, transparency, and appropriate escalation of material concerns. Assess opportunities for risk transference and other capital relief strategies, including business cases, feasibility assessments, execution requirements, and expected capital impact. Coordinate phased delivery from insight to recommendation, governance, and execution, ensuring initiatives move from analysis to measurable business outcomes. Drive Cross-Functional Execution and Ongoing Insights Partner with Commercial Lending Product teams, as well as Finance, Risk, AI2, Treasury, Enterprise Capital, Model Development, Technology, Operations, and front-line business partners to advance initiatives from analysis to implementation, including the embedding of controls aligned with risk appetite, business objectives and regulatory expectations. Leverage analytics and modeling to evaluate client profitability, capital intensity, RWA drivers, RAROC outcomes, and portfolio performance. Translate capital, RAROC, pricing, and portfolio insights into practical decision-making tools, recommendations, and executive-ready materials for senior leadership. Compile and interpret capital, RAROC, pricing, and portfolio reporting, providing senior leadership with clear insights into performance, risks, trade‑offs, decisions required, and opportunities. Lead governance forums, business reviews, or executive updates related to capital optimization, articulating progress, risks, dependencies, recommendations, and forward strategy. Define and track OKRs and performance metrics for capital optimization using insights to inform prioritization and execution decisions. Act as the single point of escalation for complex capital optimization, escalating when appropriate. Stakeholder & Team Leadership Lead, influence, and coordinate cross‑functional teams across capital, Product, Finance, Risk, AI2, Technology, Operations, and front-line business partners. Foster a high‑performance, inclusive culture that encourages analytical rigor, innovation, learning, and continuous improvement. Provide thought leadership and deep subject matter expertise on capital optimization and commercial credit portfolio performance. Act as a trusted advisor and brand ambassador for disciplined capital management, pricing excellence, and the broader commercial product organization. Support capability building and knowledge transfer across the product, capital, pricing, and risk communities. Breadth & Depth of Expertise Deep understanding of commercial credit, capital allocation, RWA drivers, BRR and FRR processes, RAROC methodology, portfolio analytics, risk appetite, pricing economics, and commercial segmentation within a complex, regulated environment. Ability to solve ambiguous, high‑impact problems with material financial, capital, risk, customer, and operational implications. Trusted advisor to executives, capable of framing capital issues, trade‑offs, and recommendations in an enterprise context. Experience & Qualifications Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, analytics, risk management, or a related discipline; advanced degree or professional designation is an asset. 10+ years of relevant experience in commercial banking, capital management, credit risk, finance, treasury, product management, or related fields. Demonstrated experience leading complex analytical initiatives, models, or pricing frameworks with measurable capital, financial, or risk outcomes. Experience operating in a regulated financial services environment strongly preferred.
