Finance Advisor 📍 Location: North York or Chatham 🏢 Work Arrangement: Hybrid In office: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday Remote: Wednesday and Friday 📅 Duration: ASAP to July 26, 2027 🕒 Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week 💰 Pay Rate: $40-$48/hr + 4 % vacation pay This is for a current opening. Our client is seeking a highly skilled Finance Advisor to support the Gas Inc. (EGI) Finance team. This role is ideal for a CPA-designated accounting professional with strong technical accounting expertise, financial reporting experience, and a solid understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements. The successful candidate will perform complex accounting analysis and research, support external financial reporting, contribute to month-end and quarter-end close activities, and collaborate across multiple business functions to ensure accurate and timely financial information. Key Responsibilities Perform complex accounting analysis and accounting research for the EGI Finance group. Prepare reporting schedules supporting quarterly and annual external financial filings and management reporting. Prepare and support month-end closing journal entries and account reconciliations. Research, identify, and resolve accounting issues while communicating solutions across the organization. Review contracts prior to execution and assess accounting implications. Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes. Prepare accounting memos and communicate accounting impacts to management. Support ongoing process improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies. Maintain, update, and document internal control policies and procedures. Ensure SOX compliance and adherence to key and non-key controls. Liaise with internal and external auditors regarding controls and compliance requirements. Provide support for ad hoc projects and special initiatives as required. What You'll Bring Required Qualifications University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting designation). Minimum 4 years of directly related accounting experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to senior management. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple stakeholder groups. Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and accountability. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage tight deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Oracle, SAP, and Hyperion SmartView. Working knowledge of US GAAP. Public Practice Accounting experience. Experience in Technical Accounting and Accounting Research. Experience in External Financial Reporting. Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements. Deliver financial analysis and reporting within strict deadlines. Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies.
