As the Corporate Finance Leader, you will provide financial expertise, advice and business acumen to help business units achieve goals. Develops directions for the Business Unit to ensure internal controls, financials policies and procedures are followed. You will provide strategic guidance to Business Unit Senior Management team to develop Business Unit's vision and business plans. Primary duties include:
- Responsible for capital and operating budget management, reporting and control processes.
- Provide advice and clarity for Finance and other business units on budgeting processes and procedures.
- Correspond with external auditors, The City's related authorities and other municipalities throughout the year.
- Control, monitor and report on The City's corporate reserves.
- Supervise a team of Finance staff.
- Provide training and support for Finance by facilitating open houses and creating/maintaining shared online resources.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.
Qualifications
- A degree in Finance or related discipline plus a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing.
- At least 8 years of extensive financial/accounting experience.
- Previous experience in a leadership/supervisory role is required.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- A relevant graduate degree or professional designation such as Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or Project Management Professional (PMP) will be considered an asset.
- Experience in cost accounting, process accounting, managerial accounting or financial reporting,
- Expertise in the governance and administration of enterprise accounting software is considered an asset.
- Ability to identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving problems in a complex systems environment.
- The successful candidate with have strong communication skills, robust problem-solving skills, management experience and leadership accountability.

- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Business Unit: Finance
Union: Exempt
Position Type: 2 Permanent
Compensation: Level P4 $125,909 - 157,386 per annum
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
