About the role

Trade Settlement Analyst Location: Toronto, ON Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 4 days onsite and 1 day remote per week Contract Duration: 12 months Potential: Extension and/or conversion may be available based on business needs and performance Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Trade Settlement Analyst to join a Capital Markets Operations team supporting trade settlement and securities operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring trades are accurately processed, matched, reconciled, and settled within established timelines. This role requires strong attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, financial reconciliation experience, and a solid understanding of capital markets and trade settlement processes. This is a 100% back-office operations role with limited meetings and no direct interaction with end customers.

Key Responsibilities Support daily securities settlement and post-trade operations. Perform daily reconciliations, identify financial discrepancies, investigate root causes, and coordinate corrections. Monitor and report failed and pending trades in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Perform daily trade matching and follow up on unmatched or discrepant trades. Support CDS and DTC-related trade settlement and processing activities. Review pending trade reports and provide timely status updates to relevant internal and external partners. Access, match, and affirm trade confirmations to facilitate timely settlement. Investigate and resolve suspense and clearing issues/outages. Monitor international settlement activity and identify issues that could impact settlement. Support buy-in processes for regulatory short positions when required. Maintain accurate settlement statistics, operational reports, and documentation. Respond to client and internal partner inquiries and escalate issues when appropriate. Ensure operational procedures are documented, current, and followed consistently. Monitor shared operational inboxes and ensure requests are handled within required timelines. Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes. Participate in cross-training and job-shadowing to develop knowledge across different operational functions. Provide desk coverage during periods of increased volumes or team absences. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to operational efficiency. Follow applicable banking, regulatory, AML, risk, compliance, and operational policies. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent education. 5+ years of experience in banking, financial services, or capital markets. Strong hands-on experience with trade settlements. Experience with CDS and/or DTC is highly preferred. Prior experience performing financial reconciliations and investigating discrepancies. Strong understanding of capital markets and trading operations. Advanced MS Excel skills, including: VLOOKUP Pivot Tables Macros Data analysis and reconciliation Experience working with high-volume financial transactions and strict deadlines. Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Nice-to-Have Qualifications CSC certification/coursework. CFA, FRM, or other relevant financial certifications. Experience with securities lending, prime brokerage, or other Capital Markets Operations functions. Experience with DTC OMGEO TradeSuite or similar trade processing platforms. Knowledge of global securities settlement processes. Experience with financial operations platforms and reporting systems.
