Position: Director of Finance Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite, 2 Days Remote) Salary: $170,000-$190,000 (pro-rated for the 6-month contract) Job Type: 6-month contract Posting Type: Open Vacancy
Our client, a well-established organization in Mississauga, is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join their team on a 6-month contract. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned finance leader, independent consultant, fractional CFO, or Director of Finance who can quickly step into a leadership role and provide both strategic direction and hands-on operational support during a period of transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to the finance function, ensuring business continuity throughout the engagement.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian accounting standards.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage the external audit process and act as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Oversee all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and cash flow management, Payroll, Investments, Pension accounting
- Ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP, regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and internal controls.
- Evaluate and enhance financial reporting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
- Partner with the executive leadership team to provide financial insights that support strategic planning and organizational objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and support the finance team while fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and implement finance best practices.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including senior management responsibilities.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, external audits, internal controls, treasury management, investments, and pension accounting.
- Demonstrated experience leading finance teams within complex organizations.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian GAAP and financial governance best practices.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector is considered a strong asset.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to quickly adapt, prioritize competing demands, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
