Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for a Treasury Manager to join the Treasury team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily firm wide liquidity to ensure sufficient funding for trading, settlement, and margin obligations
- Manage cash positions across multiple currencies and accounts, including trust/segregated accounts
- Optimize short term funding through securities lending and overnight facilities
- Forecast short and long term liquidity needs based on trading activity, client flows, and market conditions
- Maintain controls to ensure segregation of client assets and proper handling of client free credit balances
- Liaise with regulators and internal compliance teams during audits, reviews, and examinations
- Manage collateral posted to clearinghouses (e.g., CDS) and counterparties
- Maintain relationships with various banks and liquidity providers
- Implement and monitor treasury controls, including dual authorization, payment limits, and reconciliation processes
- Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of cash, securities, and collateral accounts
- Develop dashboards and reporting for senior management on liquidity, capital, and funding metrics
- Support internal and external audits with documentation, testing, and remediation plans
- Enhance treasury systems, automation, and reporting tools
- Collaborate with trading, operations, finance, and compliance to support new products or business initiatives
- Develop and maintain treasury policies, procedures, and business continuity plans.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of experience in treasury, capital management, or financial operations within a broker dealer or bank
- Experience with CIRO-regulated entities strongly preferred
- Experience working with clearinghouses (CDS, CDCC), custodians, and major Canadian banks
- Strong understanding of Canadian capital markets, equity/fixed income products, and derivatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Professional designations preferred: CPA, CFA, FRM, or progress toward them
- Expertise in liquidity management, cash forecasting, and intraday funding
- Strong command of treasury systems, payment platforms, and reconciliation tools
- Strong understanding of securities settlement, clearing, and custody processes
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with BI/reporting tools
- Ability to design and maintain treasury controls, including payment authorization, limit structures, and exception handling
- Strong understanding of liquidity risk, counterparty risk, and funding risk
- Familiarity with stress testing, scenario analysis, and capital/liquidity contingency planning
- Strong communication skills for working with regulators, banks, and senior management
- Ability to collaborate effectively with trading, finance, operations, compliance, and risk teams
- Strong quantitative and analytical abilities for forecasting, modeling, and variance analysis
- Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements or automation
- Skilled at diagnosing breaks, settlement issues, and funding discrepancies under time pressure
