Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Network Management team for Correspondent Banking by providing global control and oversight of Correspondent Banks that provide payment clearing services to Scotiabank. The oversight includes the network of Nostro accounts for North America, LatAm and CCAU, the associated RMA Governance, as, ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. In addition, ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You'll Do:

  • Effectively and efficiently manage the overall framework and governance of the Correspondent Banking network in collaboration with key internal parties, bringing a balanced and prudent approach to managing business needs and associated risks, and encompassing industry best practices across Scotiabank footprint including GBM and International Banking.
  • Network Banks
    • Own, manage and execute on service review framework for Nostro service providers
    • Execute on the Nostro due diligence framework, under the Third-Party Risk Management Policy
  • Lead a team of network managers, providing guidance, coaching and development as required to allow network managers to develop through knowledge of Scotiabank's network and manage the complex projects in addition to BAU activities such as nostro third party intakes, updates to Coupa and daily requests/issues/escalations from the stakeholders.
  • Ownership of the ongoing development and implementation of Nostro Network governance procedures as well as associated SWIFT RMA network Governance, driving awareness, adoption and compliance across the Bank's footprint.
  • Continually work with internal and external partners to leverage the MIS to improve processes and to ensure controls are adequate, including recommending ongoing enhancements that would strengthen controls and render processes more efficient and effective.
  • Continually monitor business trends, market best practices, regulatory environment, and work with internal and external groups to recommend and implement changes.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes/controls and/or reduce risks.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. This includes the development of regular risk and business MIS reports to enable senior management business decisions and support relationship managers within Correspondent Banking
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in network management
  • Minimum of undergraduate degree in business/finance, related field or equivalent experience
  • Proven ability to build strong cross-divisional relationships
  • Employs excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong relationship management skills
  • Works independently and effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Experience with project management is highly desirable
