We are looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to support our business growth in Toronto. The Junior Quantity Surveyor will be reporting directly to the Managing Director. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will estimate the costs of construction projects, collaborating with contractors, builders, and architects to provide the most cost-effective plans that meet the company's quality standards. They must have strong organizational and communication skills to manage and direct development plans.

How you will contribute:

  • Perform quantity/as-built surveys.
  • Prepare cost plans for construction projects, including concept design and design development (generating Class D to Class A cost reports).
  • Create tender documents, such as bills of quantities, rates, or schedules.
  • Measure various types of projects based on construction plans.
  • Prepare detailed schedules of quantities.
  • Assist in preparing construction estimates using information from engineers, architects, and other design consultants.
  • Update agreed cost plans.
  • Verify project budgets and time schedules to ensure effective planning.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards in all aspects of the projects.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance cost management procedures, templates, and products.
  • Administer these improvements accordingly.
  • Conduct preliminary research into construction and budget details to assist the quantity surveyor in making informed evaluations.
  • Monitor actual expenses against budget plans, reporting significant price fluctuations and preparing monthly cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare replacement costs and tax depreciation schedules at the end of the project for the client's insurance policy.


What you bring to the table:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quantity surveying working on large scale projects with a developer or engineering consultancy
  • Membership in good standing with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS), The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or other relevant professional organization
  • Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) or working towards PQS is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to value engineering based on different project objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction cost management, contract administration, and procurement processes.
  • Proven skills in negotiating with suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess cost-related issues.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with project teams and stakeholders.


This is not a hybrid or remote position. The successful candidate will be working at our Leslie Street Head Office, Mon to Fri 900am to 530pm.
