Under the direction of the Vice President Products and Marcomm the Director, Product & Partnerships will be primarily responsible for the strategic development of products and services in credit, wealth management, and through alliances with strategic partnerships. The Director, Product & Partnerships will be instrumental in increasing sales volumes and penetration of products and services.

This position provides leadership, direction and coaching to its direct reports. Ensures objectives are met regarding sales/net portfolio growth, profitability, portfolio quality, operating effectiveness, quality of member experience, member satisfaction and employee experience.

Major Responsibilities

  • Product Development: Conduct ongoing product and services assessments including market opportunity and profitability analysis to optimize product and service offering and sustained profitability based on strategic direction and target segments. Drive the key strategic priorities to establish Alterna products and services as "the good in banking". Sponsor/champion/support related initiatives that build revenue, including quality marketing promotions and distribution/channel strategies, and fee income related opportunities. Monitor the competitive environment, stay abreast of market trends, service fees, member/customer needs and experience.
  • Member/Customer Experience: Represent Alterna's members/customers and prospects and develop/deliver an integrated member/customer experience that exceeds their expectations and meets Alterna's "Good in banking" standards. Collaborate with internal colleagues to develop business requirements/user stories, and client journey roadmap.
  • Shaping/Influencing Business Strategies and Strategic Planning: Help establish the Strategic direction/decision process as it relates to the business plan and strategic roadmap. Develop a go to market plan for maintaining and growing revenues, risk adjusted and profitable over the financial year. Ongoing prioritization of initiatives against business imperatives/strategies and working with internal and external partners to achieve alignment and focus.
  • Product Documentation: In collaboration with Retail Credit, lead enhancements to credit product documentation (credit and mortgage agreements) to enhance and ensure currency of documents. Ensure processes and training for frontline staff reflects latest changes to product documentation.
  • Partner Relationship Management: Responsible to maintain and maximize existing relationships with partners/suppliers and actively develop new alliances as required. Ensure the appropriate management of all relevant partnerships, pricing updates, appropriate product disclosures and product documentation.
  • People Management/Leadership: Provide leadership, direction, coaching, guidance, and training to Product Team employees. Ensure team is fully resourced and effective. Foster an environment that encourages employees to realize their maximum potential through professional development. Ensures all staff receive formal and informal performance feedback, encourage continuous improvement and an atmosphere conducive to an enhanced employee experience Ensure that all staff are effectively utilized, trained and motivated to contribute to and maintain a high level of member sales and service.

      ]Qualifications

      Education/ Certifications/ Experience

      • University degree in a related field combined with a minimum of 7 years experience at the managerial level in product development
      • Experience in product development, pricing and digital credit
      • Experience dealing with credit and investment products
      • Strong sales knowledge, background and experience
      • Banking experience an asset
      • Credit union knowledge and experience an asset
      • Bilingualism (French/English) an asset
