The Senior Manager, Business Resilience reports to the Managing Director, Corporate Services within the Legal and Enterprise Corporate Affairs Department. The Senior Manager, Business Resilience is responsible for managing the Business Resilience Management ("BRM") program delivery and direction across the TMX Enterprise, and in doing so will assist TMX business units and corporate functions to ensure their business continuity, disaster recovery and crisis management plans are current and effective.

Department Overview:

TMX Group's Legal and Enterprise Corporate Affairs (LCA) provides centralized legal, corporate services, compliance management and government affairs services across the organization. The LCA team is a high-performing team with offices in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and London and is responsible for providing TMX Group and its subsidiaries with the full suite of legal and corporate affairs services they need to support and develop their businesses.

Role Summary:

The Senior Manager, Business Resilience reports to the Managing Director, Corporate Services within the Legal and Enterprise Corporate Affairs Department. The Senior Manager, Business Resilience is responsible for managing the Business Resilience Management ("BRM") program delivery and direction across the TMX Enterprise, and in doing so will assist TMX business units and corporate functions to ensure their business continuity, disaster recovery and crisis management plans are current and effective.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide thought leadership, ideas and support to enable and advance the BRM program to ensure an appropriate state of readiness across the TMX Enterprise.

  • Support the lines of businesses and corporate functions with identification of business resilience risk exposures through facilitation of risk assessments and analysis of applicable contingency and recovery plans to identify opportunities to enhance their business resilience performance.

  • Assist business leads to prioritize business resilience objectives by providing useful feedback while maintaining a proper balance between partnership and effective challenge around their resiliency objectives.

  • Help lead and support the development and delivery of enterprise-wide BRM communication and training initiatives.

  • Apply the enterprise risk appetite, identify opportunities and deliver solutions to continuously improve the program and drive efficiency through regular and robust BRM exercising.

  • Take initiative to monitor industry changes and represent TMX Group in industry BRM working groups and initiatives as required.

  • Liaise with colleagues within Internal Audit, Global Technology Services and various TMX business units to provide suitable communication of the BRM Program within TMX and among appropriate external parties (i.e Regulators, participants, vendors etc).

  • Build trusting relationships with business partners by demonstrating solid and practical understanding of BRM techniques, following through on commitments and behaving with integrity.

  • Supporting the Security Operations Supervisor and the Information Security office in threat risk monitoring and assessments of potential emerging risks that could potentially impact TMX business.

  • As a Crisis Management Team alternate, support the Head, Business Resilience and Physical Security for Crisis Coordination and Response

Skills and Experience:

Must Haves:

  • University degree in business and/or College Diploma in Business Continuity Management/Emergency Management

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Member Business Continuity Institute (MBCI) preferred

  • Strong understanding of Crisis Management Response

  • Understanding of critical infrastructure such as information technology, cyber resilience, tele- communications and power infrastructures

  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years experience in the field of BRM, including hands-on BRM program strategy and plan development, implementation, testing and maintenance skills

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Adaptable to change, with an ability to work effectively under pressure and in crisis situations; experience in managing actual crisis situations is an asset

  • Experience in managing relationships across multiple business units

  • Knowledge of the financial services sector

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to understand new business processes, evaluate risks and identify potential business impacts

  • Detail-oriented, but also able to conceptualize strategies for implementation of integrated solutions

  • Excellent planning, organizational and execution skills

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
