Job Title: Corporate Financial Specialist

Location: G3 Head Office, Winnipeg (On Site)

Working under the direction of the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Corporate Financial Specialist ensures the provision of timely, relevant and accurate financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual). This role completes all accounting-related activities related to our Selling, General and Administrative (SG&A) head office costs and net other income accounts including month-end processes, forecasting and budgeting, and monthly reporting to stakeholders. The Corporate Financial Specialist also completes various intercompany and consolidation entries to assist in preparation of the monthly consolidation financial statements. This role is also key in the consolidation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasting data for all G3 entities for presentation to the Executive. The Corporate Financial Specialist also supports in the preparation of the year-end financial statement disclosures and works closely with external auditors.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares, analyzes and interprets monthly SG&A results for head office cost centers and discusses with stakeholders to understand any variance to budget/forecast. Prepares monthly reporting packages for stakeholders on actual results vs. budget/forecast with commentary.
  • Assists with preparing timely and accurate month-end board reporting on SG&A costs and net other income accounts.
  • Prepares the annual budget and quarterly forecasting for SG&A cost centers and net other income items including preparing budget templates and analysing information submitted by management.
  • Completes the consolidation of each G3 entities annual budget and quarterly forecasting data for all income statement line items. Completes necessary intercompany eliminations and consolidation entries needed for budgeting/forecast analysis at each entity level for reporting to the Executive. Loads budget and forecast data (detailed account and cost center level) in SAP module used for monthly analysis by finance teams.
  • Completes the full scope of accounting for parent / corporate entities (G3 Global Grain Group, G3 Global Holdings, G3 Vancouver Terminal, etc.)
  • Prepares integrated reporting components such as intercompany eliminations and consolidation entries in order to report consolidated results. Prepares the monthly consolidated financial statements at parent company level.
  • Main contact with external parties for accounting related to Laker vessel including monthly revenue, expenses, and layup costs.
  • Responsible for preparing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and monthly journals for review.
  • Monitoring compliance with accounting standards by maintaining current knowledge of IFRS standards and assists with implementing new accounting standards by participating in discussions with affected managers and developing a plan of action. Documenting policies and procedures for management and auditor approval.
  • Assistance with preparation of year-end financial statement note disclosures for assigned sections across various entities. Providing documentation and assistance to the external auditors for interim and year-end audit.
  • Performs other ad-hoc project related duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Highly detail oriented with effective communication and time management skills
  • 3+ years' experience in an analyst or equivalent role
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting/finance and CPA designated
  • Strong SAP experience and general grain industry knowledge considered an asset
  • Advanced Excel and analytical reporting
  • PowerBI experience considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a confidential environment
