BFL CANADA is looking for a Risk Control Engineer in Real Estate for its Vancouver Office!

As a member of our Real Estate division, you will be responsible to provide loss prevention guidance and support to BFL CANADA's national real estate clients and prospects. This includes the development of a national risk management platform and disaster plan for clients. It further includes identification, evaluation, and mitigation of various risk factors (fire, water damage, liability etc.) to reduce properties potential to loss, and improve the overall risk for the client.

Your day as a Risk Control Engineer

  • Develop and implement loss control program for BFL's real estate clients. This includes the customized creation, design and implementation of loss control practices and procedures.
  • Create a national disaster plan for clients focused on natural catastrophes
  • Liaise with clients and their insurers to establish mutual beneficial objectives and provide alternative risk control solutions.
  • Create various loss prevention documents and videos to assist property managers with loss prevention.
  • Conduct loss control inspections as an advocate for the client.
  • Assist the client prepare insurance underwriting reports as needed.
  • Assist the client with response to any insurance company recommendations.
  • Identify potential risks related to property, liability, crime or accidents.
  • Make recommendations to reduce the frequency or severity of losses at a property.
  • Present recommendations to clients.
  • Present at various educational seminars related to loss prevention.
  • Understand various legal documents that exist for large multi-use properties, access their exposure to loss and make recommendations to reduce loss.
  • Identify and document the various water damage detection systems for residential properties.
  • Travel to other provinces in Canada to provide support as needed.

Our ideal candidate

  • Eng designation is preferred
  • 5 years' experience
  • Exemplary analytical and problem-solving skills, with acute attention to detail
  • Beneficial to have an understanding of strata and condo property acts
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with clients, team members and others within the organization as well as independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Client centric and service-oriented perspective required
  • Excellent technical knowledge, attention to detail and precision
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure

The expected salary for this role ranges from $90,000 to $165,000. Annual salary will be determined by factors including prior experience, location, business segment, and relevance of the candidate's skills to the role.
