Role Description

Reporting directly to the Manager - Investment Management, the Portfolio Accountant will join our portfolio accounting team. As an integral member of the Portfolio Accounting Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial accounting support to the team. We are looking for a candidate with a strong attention to detail and the ability to organize, prioritize and manage time in a fast-paced environment working towards bringing tasks to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports such as cash and share capital transactions
  • Maintain the portfolio level general ledger - monthly accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in the compilation of the quarterly financial statements and reporting packages
  • Prepare the real estate monthly and quarterly actual cashflow schedule for delivery to FP&A
  • Process invoices & payments on an ad hoc basis
  • Prepare and maintain monthly government and regulatory filings (ie. HST/GST/QST returns, Statistics Canada reports)
  • Prepare and reconciliation of monthly and quarterly return calculations
  • Maintenance of the financial records for intercompany transactions, contributions, distributions, legal and tax compliance.
  • Support processes for interim and year-end external audit
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget and forecast reporting
  • Support ad-hoc and various projects as they arise

Experience and Qualifications

  • Enrolled in mid-level of the CPA program
  • 2+ years related experience in accounting/financial analysis.
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • A strong work ethic, detailed oriented. ability to allocate time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands, and prioritize
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to effectively partner and liaise with all levels of the business and develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with internal team members and external contacts
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and places priority on client service
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Prior experience with Yardi Voyager is an asset.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $68,000 to $78,000.

The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual's skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
