The Capital Investment Team is passionate about leading the planning, enablement and governance for the investments TELUS makes into our suite of products including Wireless, TV, Internet, Security, Business Solutions and Healthcare. Investment in these programs enables new go-to-market or internal capabilities that are intended to deliver on our strategy, maximize portfolio returns, enhance the customer’s experience, drive our customer likelihood to recommend, and limit portfolio risk.

You will play a key role in collaborating with business units to determine which programs are funded, lead regular consolidated investment reviews, assess risks and support new opportunities and define governance and ROI mechanisms to extract maximum value from the capital programs

You are curious with a desire to understand TELUS’ diverse set of initiatives and priorities, going beyond the questions that may be routine, and seeking to apply analytical thinking to understand how capital investments fit within the bigger strategic picture.

You have strong communication skills. You will provide guidance to a broad group of cross-functional stakeholders, propagate best practices for business casing and executive presentations, and translate complex processes into reusable frameworks. You have strong business acumen. You are able to analyze business cases, understand the business implications of decisions, and provide guidance to stakeholders. What you'll do

• Perform capital performance assessments (actuals vs. plan), update outlooks, and conduct analysis on capital investment opportunities
• Partner closely with all our Business Units to understand their requirements and optimize capital investments accordingly
• Design and deliver presentations to executive leaders on capital performance and opportunities
• Develop and implement best in class processes, tools, and systems supporting capital and ROI management
• Collaborate with business unit primes to optimize capital budgets, drive improvements to capital management, track program progress, and review capital performance and investment benefits against KPIs
• Foster an inclusive culture, inspire a diverse team, and provide leadership, support, and guidance on performance, development, and career growth
• Create visually appealing and informative dashboards to track and analyze capital performance, providing stakeholders with clear insights and actionable recommendations

What you bring

• Degree(s) in Finance or a related business discipline
• 3+ years of experience in a large multi-business unit organization
• Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
• Ability to present complex information in an easily understood manner
• Accomplished storyteller with experience in building sleek presentations for effective discussions
• Self-motivated with high performance standards and the ability to navigate complex concepts and ambiguity
• Demonstrated business and financial acumen to assess benefits, costs, and risks
• Excellent time management, organization, and planning skills in a fast-paced environment

Great-to-haves

• Graduate degree such as an MBA, CPA or CFA
• Telecommunications industry experience
