The Opportunity

Our Corporate Finance team is seeking a Senior Analyst for our Corporate Planning and Evaluation function, which will report to the VP Finance. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to support a broad suite of functions including Corporate Planning, Corporate Development, and Treasury.

Duties include performing detailed financial modelling and analysis, including economic evaluations and projections; preparing internal and external presentations and other supporting materials; researching, tracking and analyzing key capital markets, industry and business metrics as well as industry competitors Canada and the U.S.

What you'll do

  • Develop sophisticated financial models to forecast the company's financial performance,
  • Own the corporate model and financial plan and drive decision-making through the application of sound modeling, data-driven analysis, research and business judgment
  • Understand key drivers of variance in performance and gather insights to report these variances to leadership along with recommendations for improvements.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to understand opportunities and risks to South Bows's financial plan, as well as the impact on macroeconomic factors on South Bow's performance
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, compelling visualizations and narratives to communicate findings and recommendations to executive leadership
  • Analyze the impact of different business strategies, acquisitions, capital investments, and other initiatives through scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Partner with various Subject matter experts to gather data, understand business drivers, and incorporate assumptions into financial models
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, treasury, and other finance teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of data and models
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices in financial modeling, and new modeling techniques and tools

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field;
  • Progression towards CFA, CBV and / or CPA designation(s) would be preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, or investment banking
  • Proven track record of building complex, dynamic financial models in Excel or similar tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into insights
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficient in using data visualization tools such as PowerBI,
  • Advanced skills in financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario/sensitivity modeling
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and ERP software
