The Opportunity

Our team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Calgary or Houston to support our Risk Management team.

We are seeking an experienced Risk Analyst who has knowledge and experience in Credit, Insurance or market risk. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to support our critical infrastructure for crude products in North America. This role reports to the Manager, Risk Management.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to obtain appropriate document gauge, particularly relating to credit clauses and financial assurance language
  • Negotiate financial assurances and contractual credit clauses/financial assurance language
  • Navigate complex risk management projects and activities with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Support the development of appropriate risk reporting tools for the senior leadership and board reporting.
  • Complete supplier financial statement analysis and assessments which includes: researching, gathering / reviewing information, and recommending/approving counterparty exposure limits
  • Monitor market risk limits for trading businesses and appropriately report compliance with policy

Minimum Qualifications

  • Successfully completed an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or Business
  • Eight (8) + years of related, progressive experience
  • An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Strong analytical skills to understand complex financial information, corporate structures and business arrangements, as well as assess the creditworthiness of counterparties


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in negotiating complex financial transactions in the energy industry.
  • Completion of a professional financial designation (i.e. CPA, CFA) or postgraduate diploma
  • Strong written and verbal communication with all levels of organization
  • Experience using reporting tools such as Power BI to create executive reports
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, demonstrating collaborative working relationships and leadership
  • Advanced analytical/reconciliation skills utilizing tools including Microsoft Excel to analyze financial data to complete ratio analysis and sensitivity models to support your credit opinion
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
