We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, professional individual to join our Finance team in the Senior Financial Reporting Analyst role. Reporting to the Director, Finance, you will be primarily responsible for the research and application of IFRS, corporate reporting, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting, along with supporting internal controls and enterprise risk management practices.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

Accounting, Research & Implementation

  • Leading accounting research for non-routine, complex transactions including accounting issue analysis, and resolution under IFRS; preparing technical memos to support findings and lead roll out of required implementation.
  • Supporting the establishment and maintenance of accounting policies and reporting processes.
  • Performing day-to-day general accounting functions with minimum assistance including journal entries, analysis, and reconciliation of accounts.

Reporting

  • Preparing annual financial statements (including notes and supporting schedules) and MD&A, including developing and maintaining processes to support accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Reconciling and preparing annual financial statement working papers for post-employment benefit obligations and others as required.
  • Responding to inquiries and requirements of external and internal auditors.
  • Preparing monthly GST, monthly withholding tax and annual income tax filings, and other corporate reporting as required.
  • Preparing reporting for the Board and Audit Committee.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Subject matter expert and key finance department contact for Adaptive Planning software tool.
  • Responsible for compilation of corporate budgets and forecasts, with inputs from divisional accountants and others as required.
  • Assisting with reporting and analysis of actuals vs budget/forecast.

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Assisting with corporate enterprise risk management processes, including documentation, and reporting on risk assessments, risk events and mitigating actions.
  • Assisting with quarterly C-Sox compliance and certification administration, as well as maintenance of control documentation and assessment of effectiveness of controls.

What you'll bring to us:

  • Professional CPA accounting designation, with a preference towards a CA legacy designation and public accounting firm experience.
  • Minimum work experience at a senior level for 8+ years in an accounting department of a mid-sized organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS and familiarity with C-SOX and/or experience with corporate risk assessment activities.
  • Experience with internal and external reporting, development of budgets and forecasts, and analysis of actual results to budget and forecast.
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Previous experience with Workday and/or Adaptive Planning considered an asset.
