Under the direction and leadership of the Manager, Taxation, the Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for a wide variety of taxation issues and financial reporting such as the preparation and review of income tax provisions, tax returns, elections and other filings. Research, analysis and interpretation skills to identify and resolve issues will also be necessary in order to support other members of the taxation team.

What Else You Get To Do:

  • Ensure compliance with all tax-related regulatory requirements, including income and commodity tax returns, withholding tax, elections and financial reporting;
  • Mentor and assist junior staff
  • Prepare complex tax provision working papers and assist with the preparation of variance analysis and consolidated financial statement notes;
  • Provide guidance and review of monthly and quarterly tax provisions for the ATCO Group Corporate Office;
  • Liaise with ATCO Group Finance personnel on tax related matters, including monthly reporting, budget and planning;
  • Serve as the main point of contact for income tax reporting and other issues from various ATCO Subsidiaries;
  • Use research, interpretation, analytical and communication skills to assist the Tax Managers and Tax Director on various income planning projects;
  • Communicate with internal, external and tax authority auditors;
  • Anticipate the impact on ATCO of new legislation
  • Recognize issues arising from various internal and external transactions
  • Develop plans to manage employment taxable benefit issues,
  • Update internal control documentation and help to manage relationships with the internal controls department
  • Prepare and review accurate tax attributes calculations including cost bases, safe income, and surplus pools

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor of Business, Commerce, or a related discipline
  • Accounting designation with 3-5 years corporate income tax experience
  • Enrolment or completion of CICA in-depth income tax courses
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects with deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Experience with preparation of tax provision and tax returns (TaxPrep tax return preparation software is preferred)
