The Faculty of Social Work has developed a national and international reputation for excellence in teaching, research and field work instruction; The kind of excellence aimed at developing practitioners to challenge and change their world. We are located in downtown Kitchener and Brantford Ontario, Canada, on the shared traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishnaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. Acknowledging reminds us of our important connection to this land where we live, learn and work. We recognize, honour and respect these Nations as the traditional stewards, since time immemorial, of the lands and water on which Laurier is now present. Field education provides students with the opportunity to practise and integrate advanced-level social work values, knowledge and skills, including the development of a professional “self” and professional identity as a social worker.
