VentaCo is seeking an experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team. In this role, you will work closely with Mortgage Agents to structure, review, and package mortgage applications while identifying the best financing solutions for each client. You will play a key role in improving approval rates, supporting agents throughout the financing process, and maintaining strong relationships with lenders and industry partners. This position is ideal for someone with strong underwriting expertise who enjoys solving complex lending scenarios, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering exceptional client outcomes Key Responsibilities Review residential mortgage applications for completeness, accuracy, and lender suitability. Structure mortgage files for submission to A, B, alternative, and private lenders. Analyze income, credit, debt servicing ratios, and supporting documentation. Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate outstanding requirements to Mortgage Agents. Provide guidance on complex lending scenarios and recommend appropriate financing solutions. Liaise with lenders, Business Development Managers (BDMs), insurers, solicitors, appraisers, and other stakeholders throughout the funding process. Stay current on lender guidelines, mortgage insurer policies, and industry regulations. Support Mortgage Agents by providing underwriting expertise and lender recommendations. Assist in resolving underwriting challenges while maintaining service standards and turnaround times. Qualifications Minimum 6 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience. Previous experience with a bank, monoline lender, credit union, or mortgage brokerage. Strong knowledge of conventional, insured, alternative, and private lending. Thorough understanding of income analysis, credit assessment, debt servicing calculations, and mortgage documentation. Experience working with multiple lenders across the broker channel. Familiarity with mortgage origination and underwriting platforms. Strong knowledge of lender guidelines and mortgage insurer requirements. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple files and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Mortgage Agent Level 2 licence is considered an asset.
