Job summary
Objective Financial Partners is looking for an experienced Certified Financial Planner (CFP) to join our growing team. We are one of Canada’s largest advice-only financial planning firms. Our planners provide comprehensive financial planning without selling investments, insurance, or other financial products. If you enjoy financial planning but not prospecting, gathering assets, or selling products, you may be a great fit. Why Objective? There are relatively few places in Canada where a CFP can build a full-time career in advice-only financial planning. At Objective, you can focus on being a financial planner. We have an established flow of inquiries from people looking for advice-only planning, and prospective clients book directly with our planners. We also have the technology and processes in place to support a national, fully remote financial planning practice. You will also have a lot of support around you. Our team of 30+ people includes 15 experienced financial planners, our accounting team, an estate paralegal, and a fantastic operations and administrative team. You will work closely with firm founder Jason Heath, who has been a leading voice in advice-only financial planning in Canada for nearly 25 years. That means our planners can spend more of their time doing what they do best: working with clients and providing financial advice. If you want to build a career in advice-only financial planning, we think Objective is one of the best places in Canada to do it. The role You will work directly with individuals and families across Canada on retirement, tax, investment, estate, insurance, and other financial planning issues. Our clients range from relatively straightforward retirees to business owners, executives, and families with more complex planning needs. The role includes preparing financial plans, presenting recommendations to clients, and providing ongoing financial planning advice. You will also have access to our accounting team when client situations involve more complex tax and corporate planning issues. What we are looking for Strong commitment to client service Positive, collaborative person who will be a great addition to our team CFP certification Several years of financial planning experience Strong technical financial planning skills Good written and verbal communication skills Enjoys working directly with clients Comfortable meeting prospective clients and scoping engagements Enjoys working independently as part of a supportive, fully remote team Strong tax knowledge is an asset Most importantly, we are looking for someone who wants to build their career in advice-only financial planning. Compensation The expected annual compensation range for an established planner working a normal full-time workweek is $125,000 to $175,000. Once a planner transitions to billings-based compensation, there is no cap on earnings, and planners with higher billings may earn more than this range. During an initial 4- to 8-week salaried onboarding period, compensation is between $100,000 and $125,000 on an annualized basis. After this initial period, planners are paid based on their billings, so compensation varies. There are no product commissions, asset-gathering expectations, or investment revenue targets tied to the role. Earning more does not have to mean working excessive hours. It can come from becoming more experienced and efficient and taking on more complex, higher-value planning work. There are also opportunities over time to develop areas of specialization, mentor other planners, or take on additional responsibilities within the firm. If you want to spend your time providing financial planning advice rather than selling products or gathering assets, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your resume to [email protected]. This posting is for an existing vacancy. We do not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or select applicants.
