Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 annually plus equity participation Role Description Our HTN Controller owns the numbers. You will run our accounting operations end to end, close the books quickly and cleanly, keep internal controls tight as we scale, and turn financial data into decisions leadership can act on. This is a hands-on role with real reach: you will lead the day-to-day accounting function while sitting at the table with the CFO and business leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Own all accounting operations — accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Drive a fast, clean month-end and year-end close, and shorten it year over year Build and maintain internal controls that protect company assets without slowing the business down Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting Turn financial data into clear, actionable insight for senior leadership Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations Lead, mentor, and grow the accounting team Continuously sharpen our accounting systems, processes, and policies — including automation and AI-assisted workflows Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Canadian CPA strongly preferred 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards Demonstrated mastery of NetSuite — 3+ years working in NetSuite as a power user or administrator, including chart of accounts design, multi-subsidiary/multi-currency consolidation, saved searches and custom reporting, approval workflows, and month-end close within the system. You should be the person others come to with NetSuite questions. Advanced Excel skills, plus working familiarity with other accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERPs) Understanding of both US and Canadian Accounting Standards Experience managing audits and tax compliance Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders Understanding of FX and Transfer Pricing. Preferred Experience using AI tools, Power BI, or similar software to build and accelerate internal and external reporting packages. We actively encourage the use of Claude across the finance team — for reconciliations, variance commentary, memo drafting, and process documentation — and candidates who already work this way will hit the ground running. Experience in the technology industry, particularly in e-commerce or direct-to-consumer businesses (multi-channel revenue recognition, payment processors, sales tax across jurisdictions) Experience with ERP implementations or system conversions
