Senior Analyst, Commercial Finance– Indirect lending

This position will report to Director, Indirect Lending with matrix reporting into Director, Financial Planning & Analysis. Indirect Lending group is responsible for managing and growing the Retail POS financing and Auto Financing business lines. The Financial Planning & Analysis group is responsible for supporting the business and financial strategy of the firm. The role will focus on in-depth financial and commercial analytical and decisioning support for the Indirect Lending business and will work across functions to aid management decision making to enhance growth and profitability of the business.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support development of the Indirect Lending group's pricing and funding strategy. This will involve:
    • Developing an in-depth knowledge of merchant contracts, including KPIs, metrics and key underlying drivers/levers
    • Developing an in-depth understanding of our digital application stream and incorporating it in appropriate merchant contracts as required
    • Validation of loan profiles to ensure that they adhere to the company's securitization criteria
    • Analysis of product yields to determine if they sufficient to absorb corresponding cost of funds
    • Analysis of and guidance for the management of the mix of promotional plans  
    • Rigorous financial analysis of various customer promotion and fee opportunities with a view to optimizing ROA whilst maintaining commercial viability
  • Engaging various internal and external stakeholders, as required, to understand, summarize and explain financial analyses and plans, as the case may be
  • Preparing and recommending pricing strategies for RFPs
  • Financial/pricing support of Indirect Lending's (Sales Finance and Auto) sales groups and the Legal group for merchant contracts/proposals
  • Regular and on-going review of merchant financing plans and communication of any modifications required to ensure profitability hurdles are met
  • Analysis of and recommendations for merchant recovery strategies
  • Business intelligence – being current with the industry and competitive landscape in terms of market pricing, plans, use of technology, etc.
  • Ad hoc financial analyses for Sales Finance, Auto Lending and projects, as required

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business or Accounting. MBA/CPA/CMA or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Financial Services industry in FP&A or in a similar function/capacity
  • Broad and deep understanding of finance and accounting principles, especially relating to financial institutions with a commercial focus on Sales Finance and Auto Lending


  • Strong numerical, analytical and modeling skills
  • Strategic thinking and data mining skills
  • Proven ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management (from sales personnel to project managers to the head of Indirect Lending) and build partnerships with main stakeholders
  • Proven ability to communicate and negotiate with 3rd parties
  • Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and communication skills with a strong attention to details
  • Must be able to address multiple issues in a high-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Time management skills are critical
  • English and French bilingual preferred
