General Accountant (CPA) - Venture Backed Business

In a venture backed entity with relatively less structure than more established companies, we are seeking dynamic individuals that can learn quickly and can juggle multiple tasks, projects, and ad-hoc assignments on a regular basis. It is imperative that the individual is clear about the variety of challenges that they will face and the need to be strategic, operational and detail oriented. With a relatively lean structure, the immediate challenge for this position is to garner a quick comprehension of the financial, legal and structural issues surrounding the business and the confirmatory trials to be undertaken with the funding recently put into place. The candidate will need to work closely with both the Controller and the CFO to establish the necessary controls, and accounting and reporting processes to ensure the proper capture of financial information relative to both the business and the confirmatory trials. The candidate will need to continuously evaluate where the structure is at and how to start identifying enhancements as the project gains momentum. The individual must be able to hit the ground running by immersing themselves in the operational dialogue and by establishing working relationships with the key players both inside and outside of the company.  Ultimately, the position must provide the CFO and the entire management team with high quality and reliable financial information, and its supporting analysis, which will facilitate the decision-making processes within the organization.

The ideal candidate will be a bilingual accounting and finance professional (ideally a CPA) who has proven abilities to work independently and as part of a team. In addition to strong technical skills, the individual must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills that will be essential in working in a diverse, dynamic and mostly remote environment, with multiple stakeholders based around the globe where the common language is frequently english.  The candidate must be hungry to learn and be willing to work both above and below the experience they may already have. The individual must be able to multi-task, and will not be afraid to roll up their sleeves to see things through to completion. They will be capable of planning, managing, and executing a multitude of mandates at any given time. With a high degree of comfort with information technology, the individual will lead and drive implementation and ultimately ongoing enhancements to accounting and budgeting systems that will continue to result in more efficient reporting and operating processes for the company. Proactive by nature, they will be comfortable in challenging the team and conversely being challenged by others, regardless of their level within the company. They will constantly seek out alternative ways to elevate the quality of financial reporting ensuring that management are able to make timely and effective decisions at both the corporate and confirmatory trial levels. Motivated, confident, and mature, this dynamic young individual will thrive on the opportunity to learn and understand the underlying business issues with a view to providing the management team with a complete and thorough review of its total business operations. With a track record of strong analytical skills and good judgment, the candidate must be able to identify and surface critical issues of importance to the Controller, the CFO and the rest of the management team.

Ideally we are looking for CPA's who have 3-8 years of experience, preferably with a solid base in a professional accounting firm.
