Position title: Accountant, Financial Reporting

Location: Montreal

Reports to: Manager, Financial Reporting

The Financial Reporting group is responsible for the preparation of all internal and external consolidated financial statements, notes, and publicly required disclosure documents (10-Q, 10-K, etc.). The group is also responsible for the preparation of legal entity financial statements and pension plan financial statements.

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting your role as an Accountant, Financial Reporting will consist of participating in the preparation of the consolidation and reporting of the financial results of the entire corporation in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as US Securities Commission rules.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate consolidation and reporting of Domtar’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial information;
  • Assist in the preparation of internal reports on capital expenditures;
  • Assist in the preparation of analysis for the MD&A;
  • Assist in the preparation of internal management reports (including budget) as well as reports for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors;
  • Assist in the preparation of external financial statements and notes in accordance with US accounting and securities Commission standards;
  • Assist in ensuring the overall functionality of the Longview consolidation system as well as participating in the upgrade of the consolidation system;
  • Analyze various financial statement information;
  • Prepare the legal entity financial statements and related information supporting the taxation group;
  • Prepare the reports for government organizations;
  • Act as liaison and facilitator with external auditors to enable them to complete quarterly reviews and annual audit;
  • Support to the divisions/locations for accounting, reporting and consolidation issues;
  • Review the financial statements of the US and Canadian pension funds;
  • Ad hoc accounting projects and requests.

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in accountancy with a CPA professional designation;
  • You have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in an accounting firm;
  • You are comfortable in a highly computerized environment and have knowledge of advanced Excel;
  • You are bilingual (written and spoken) in French and English.
