· Develop and manage detailed carbon emissions inventories for all companies within the group, covering Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect emissions), and Scope 3 (indirect emissions from the upstream/downstream value chain) emissions. · Establish science-based targets for emission reductions in alignment with SBTi. · Develop and implement strategies and action plans to achieve these targets. · Monitor progress towards emission reduction goals and adjust strategies as needed. · Develop metrics and KPIs to track progress in emissions reductions and support the Group and business units’ voluntary reporting commitments, such as CDP. · Ensure compliance with relevant carbon reporting frameworks and regulatory requirements, including Europe’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). · Help conduct climate scenario assessments and develop climate risk assessment tools to help identify climate- and carbon-related risks and opportunities. · Help develop a carbon transition plan for the Group. · Participate in the Group’s sustainability and carbon committees. · Contribute to product life cycle assessments and help develop plans to further decrease product carbon footprints. · Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sustainability, operations, and supply chain teams, to drive emissions reduction initiatives. · Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members and others (as needed). Critical Competencies | ||||
· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred. · Proven experience in carbon inventory management, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and reporting. · Experience with setting and managing Science-Based Targets (SBTi) or similar sustainability initiatives. · In-depth knowledge of GHG Protocol standards and methodologies. · Proficiency in using carbon accounting software and tools. · Familiarity with life cycle assessments (LCA) and environmental impact assessments. · Strong analytical and quantitative skills to accurately calculate and interpret carbon emissions data. · Ability to analyze complex data sets and derive actionable insights. · Understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in carbon management and sustainability reporting. · Strong project management skills to oversee the implementation of carbon inventory processes and SBTi goals. · Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
