Trans-Canada Capital (TCC), a subsidiary of Air Canada, is an investment management firm growing rapidly.  TCC manages the assets of Air Canada's pension plans and also offers its services to third-party institutional investors. The assets under management include traditional asset classes (bonds and stocks), alternative investments (derivatives, infrastructure, private equity and real estate) and portable alpha strategies (hedge funds and tactical asset allocation) worth over $21B in aggregate. The investment team of over 60 professionals is located in downtown Montreal.

Reporting to the Manager Financial Operations, the Analyst – Financial Operations will be mainly responsible for processes and controls related to financial operations associated with the various funds of funds offered by the firm. The ideal candidate will have developed his/her sense of priorities, be rigorous and will be able to work efficiently under pressure. He/She will be curious, motivated by continuous improvements and will have excellent skills in project management, communication and maintaining good interpersonal relationships.

  • Manage daily capital calls and distributions for funds of funds and issue approval of the payments related to these funds;
  • Enter all transactions into the accounting system and prepare end-of-day cash reconciliations to ensure systems integrity;
  • Analyse and understand all information received from external managers;
  • Perform daily follow-up related to the management of liquidities and instruct, if applicable, relevant trading teams;
  • Validate the assets (including series) of each fund of funds determined by the fund administrator and take necessary actions to correct discrepancies, if any;
  • Coordinate work and make sure the information is flowing properly between all teams involved with the funds of funds (portfolio managers, operations team and fund administrator);
  • Ensure data integrity at all time and respond to questions asked by Performance or Client Servicing internal teams;
  • Suggest actions to improve current processes/methods and take part in their implantation.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, administration or relevant discipline;
  • Experience in financial operations related to private markets and/or fund of funds;
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Bilingual (spoken/written) French and English, essential
  • Knowledge of various financial systems: Eagle Star, MGPS (SWIFT), Burgiss, desirable
  • Genuine interest for hedge funds and alternative investments (real estate, infrastructure, private debt, etc.)
