The Analyst, Environmental Risk and Compliance at Ivanhoé Cambridge will report to the Director, Environmental Risk and Compliance and will support the implementation of the Ivanhoé Cambridge Environmental Management System throughout the portfolio. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on environmental management.  Respond to internal and external inquiries by delivering relevant and timely environmental expertise mainly on environmental due diligence, site remediations, hazardous materials management, spills prevention and response, and waste reduction;
  • Provide environmental training to employees to ensure that all business units are engaged and follow the Ivanhoé Cambridge Environmental Management System;
  • Research environmental laws and regulations regularly to determine if any new or updated regulations will have an impact on our businesses;
  • Support the environmental due diligence process during the acquisition of residential, commercial, and industrial assets located globally;
  • Review and summarize environmental reports for the Investment teams and other colleagues;
  • Coordinate environmental projects under the Environmental Audit Program to ensure a timely completion and to avoid budget over-runs.  The Environmental Audit Program includes projects such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Environmental Compliance Audits, Waste Audits, Asbestos Re-Assessments and other environmental audits;
  • Review environmental reports and provide comments to consultants to make any necessary revisions;
  • Analyze environmental risks for the purposes of recommending cost effective site remediation strategies;
  • Oversee complex environmental clean-up projects using the assistance of specialized environmental consultants and contractors;
  • Maintain a good liaison with internal and external stakeholders and oversee the activities of specialized environmental consultants and contractors;
  • Participate in the design and deployment of environmental information systems;
  • Leverage information systems to track and communicate environmental information to stakeholders.   
  • Regularly update the environmental reports registry;
  • Assist in the preparation of request for proposals, tender documents, and environmental services contracts.
  • Process invoices for payment on a timely basis;
  • Responsibilities include basic administration work.


  • University undergraduate degree in geology, engineering or environmental studies;
  • Member of the order of geologists of Québec or professional engineer preferred;
  • Minimum of five years of work experience in a related environmental position or in environmental consulting;
  • Proven track record of environmental project management experience;
  • Strong organizational and project management skills;
  • Able to manage multi-site projects simultaneously under strict deadlines;
  • Considerable comfort in dealing with third parties;
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Good oral and written communication skills in French and English required;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Willingness to learn and not be afraid to tackle challenging projects.
