SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

You will be responsible for overseeing accounting and financial reporting for companies within the corporate structure of Ivanhoé Cambridge's European platform. This requires working with the external consultants tasked with producing financial information. You will help integrate transactions (new investments, holding structures) and contribute to the analysis underlying quarterly reports and forecasts. In carrying out your duties, you will work closely with the Corporate Services Accounting Senior Advisors, the London-based Senior Advisor, as well as the Legal Affairs, Cash Management and Treasury teams in the Montreal office to meet specified reporting objectives.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Liaise with European external partners' accounting teams to obtain the necessary information related to the operations of the European corporate entities for entry into the accounting system;
  • Coordinate the receipt of all financial information involving the European corporate entities from European partners;
  • On a quarterly basis, review trial balances and analyse other financial information issued by European partners on corporate entities;
  • Ensure operational and transactional funds flow smoothly and uniformly within the European platform, supporting the Senior Advisor based in London and cooperating with the Legal Affairs, Cash Management and Treasury teams;
  • Assist the Senior Advisor in London in preparing and tracking the annual budget for the European corporate entities;
  • Assist the Senior Advisors, Corporate Services Accounting, with the following:
    • Managing the various accounting, tax and legal aspects of setting up new investments and new corporate entities;
    • Entering the corporate restructuring transactions and other changes in investment holdings in the accounting system;
  • Prepare quarterly and yearly financial statements for complex holding companies to meet statutory reporting requirements;
  • Help gather, analyse and process various balance sheet items for the Ivanhoé Cambridge Group on a quarterly basis as well as in return forecast exercises;
  • Contribute to resolve issues during the annual audit of the European corporate entities ;
  • Assist in preparing the Ivanhoé Cambridge Group 's audited financial statements and participate in the annual audit process;
  • Ensure adherence to established internal controls.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA designation;
  • Five to seven years of related experience;
  • Good knowledge of Canadian and international accounting standards;
  • Very good knowledge of the accounting aspects of consolidation and currency conversion;
  • Strong analytical skills and a talent for processing and interpreting complex information;
  • Strong prioritisation and multitasking skills; ability to work independently and perform under pressure;
  • Ability to establish productive working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation;
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills;
  • Confidently innovative, creative and comfortable in challenging the status quo;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including in-depth knowledge of Excel; familiarity with JD Edwards, an asset;
  • Bilingual French and English, spoken and written.
