Specific accountabilities

The incumbent assists the Manager, Cash Management, with day-to-day cash management activities. He or she works closely with fellow team members to perform routine treasury functions. Main duties include the following:

  • With the investment teams from the various business units, coordinate movements of funds related to acquisitions/dispositions;
  • In conjunction with other departments (taxation, legal affairs, accounting), develop strategies to facilitate complex movements of funds;
  • Develop and document the controls necessary for managing cash and settling transactions;
  • Formulate strategies to optimize cash management;
  • Build and maintain business relationships with banks and the treasury management system provider;
  • Design dashboards for monitoring cash in the treasury system and suggest improvements to streamline operations;
  • Identify potential upgrades and follow up with the provider (GTreasury) about requested changes;
  • Supervise the Coordinator, Cash Management, and the Senior Analyst, Treasury;
  • Direct structural updates to the various treasury platforms that result from operational changes to the company (acquisitions/dispositions);
  • Oversee support for various banking and treasury system platforms;
  • Create and regularly update training materials for the treasury system;
  • Review development, support and changes to the use of the treasury management system across various business units;
  • Supervise work related to internal and external auditing;
  • Monitor emergency measures for the business continuity plan;
  • Review work related to accounting cycles;
  • Ensure compliance with the various restrictions and controls applicable to cash transactions;
  • Ensure continuity of operations while team members are on vacation;
  • Perform other related tasks required as part of the job.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in administration with a major in accounting or finance, with CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) and/or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation;
  • Minimum seven years of experience in a corporate treasury department or a bank;
  • In-depth knowledge of treasury management systems (GTreasury, Kyriba, SunGard, etc.) and banking platforms for Canadian and international banks;
  • Proven ability to handle cash management involving multiple currencies and/or countries;
  • Experience with employee management;
  • Experience developing treasury management tools;
  • Ability to work in a highly computerized environment;
  • Highly methodical, with a talent for analyzing and processing information.
  • A team player with a strong sense of initiative;
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications;
  • Excellent spoken and written French and English.
