Description

You’ll be part of our mechanical team specialized in explosive dust management and hazardous location classification. You’ll be exposed to various situations to develop your technical skills in explosive dust, machine safety, risk analysis, electrical classification and fire protection. You’ll contribute to all project stages in the heavy industry sector, from studies to implementing solutions at client sites.

Your role as engineer will be to participate in risk analyses, engineering, in selecting technology and in executing projects in all industrial sectors (including the wood industry and the mining, energy and heavy industry sectors); to help identify business opportunities with clients; and to draft winning proposals. You’ll play a primarily technical and project management role in the mandates assigned to you. You’ll contribute to the firm’s business development by maintaining business relationships with clients. You’ll be asked to work in the greater Montréal area, at our Montréal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire offices.

More specifically, by joining our team, you’ll be required to:

• Lead and participate in risk analyses (DHA, PRA, HAZID, HAZOP).
• Help write technical reports.
• Lead and participate in designing plans, specifications and details based on guidelines from a senior engineer.
• Provide recommendations on establishing standards and other practical applications.
• Assist more experienced staff with the technical aspects of more complex tasks.
• Coordinate the work of drafters or other team members.
• Make technical choices on designs that need to be established, provide recommendations and make important decisions on highly technical or complex issues.
• Perform technical information surveys.
• Monitor contractors on site.
• Participate in technical audits on site.

Requirements

• University degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
• From 0 to 3 years of experience
• Experience in Mechanical Engineering in the heavy industry, energy or mining sectors
• Good knowledge of the following standards: NFPA, ATEX, CSA, IEC and NFC
• Good communication skills (spoken and written)
• Available for short- and medium-term trips outside the office
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite and other applications, databases and interfaces
• Relevant experience in project management, cost estimates, writing technical reports and troubleshooting
• Bilingual (English and French)
