About You:

Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, you are a talented professional who will take the lead on all company tax related matters by implementing tax policies and strategies and evaluating processes to ensure compliance with relevant statutes and regulatory codes. You will also manage various aspects of the company’s treasury functions and supports the accounting team in various capacities.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation and support the review of all monthly, quarterly and annual tax fillings by the required deadlines for all Canadian and US entities
• Manage external tax partners to ensure all tax fillings are prepared, submitted and paid on time
• Key contact for CRA related matters, managing all CRA audits and reviews
• Review and approve monthly HST fillings
• Maintain and prepare monthly tax provision in compliance with IFRS, including all related tax disclosures and inputs into the general ledger
• Review the legal entity transfer price analysis and documentation
• Act as the key business resource on the interpretation and application of the Income Tax Act, IRFS Tax policies and other business policies and procedures, and support the implementation of new policies and procedures, as required
• Proactively understand and address potential tax outcomes across all related Canadian and US entities in order to holistically analyze and identify potential business tax risks/opportunities and effectively communicate to the business
• Understand mechanics and key inputs (add-backs, deductions, etc.) to taxable income across all entities for US and CAD tax reporting
• Build and improve on existing processes, implementing best practices
• Partner with FP&A to lead the monthly forecasting and annual budget process for treasury related financial models and understand the key levers
• Collaborate with FP&A and Financial Reporting, to ensure Tax, and Treasury details are complete and accurate for key model inputs
• Provide variance analysis and commentary to explain differences in performance relating to tax and borrowing costs and make improvements going forward
• Liaise with external audit team as required
• Other ad-hoc duties

Requirements

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance, Tax specific or other related field
• A comprehensive knowledge of the Income Tax Act, with extensive experience preparing and reviewing Canadian T2 tax fillings and the US tax filling processes
• CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) designation preferred with 5 years of progressive tax related experience in both US and Canada
• Experience working in the Financial Services industry is preferred but not required
• High attention to detail to produce accurate, high quality financial analysis for decision making
• Sharp problem-solving skills
• Able to manage deliverables efficiently in a high-pressure environment
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Able to work in a team and with colleagues across different departments
• Able to work independently under tight deadlines
• Experience with NetSuite is an asset
