What we are looking for:

The Analyst, Investments will provide analytical support to the Investments team at Fiera Real Estate. You will be responsible for underwriting, due diligence and transaction management of investment opportunities.

Fiera Real Estate is a Canadian real estate investment-management team that protects and grows the money we manage on behalf of our clients and partners by investing directly in exceptional commercial real estate assets. Fiera Real Estate manages over C$6.5 billion of commercial real estate through its investment funds and accounts, which hold office, retail, industrial and multi-family properties across Canada and the UK.

Your responsibilities:

  • Sort, screen and log all incoming investment opportunities and present to the Investments Team for review;
  • Assist in the maintenance of the investment database with a view to capture market intelligence and monitor market share of opportunities;
  • Underwrite and develop a pricing strategy for all suitable investments;
  • Assist in the development of transaction strategy;
  • Carry out transaction due diligence (financial, physical, environmental, market) including the engagement of the Asset Management and Accounting teams as required;
  • Produce Due Diligence Reports and Investment Committee reports and presentations;
  • Ensure compliance with Fiera Real Estate’s policies and procedures related to acquisitions and dispositions and ensure a complete and auditable record of each transaction is catalogued;
  • Carry out transaction closing process;
  • Carry out the internal closing process and assist in the transfer of new investments into the Fiera Real Estate system including conveying all information learned in the investment transaction process in order to enable a smooth transition of new property(s) into the portfolio;
  • In cooperation with Accounting, manage post-closing requirements until complete;
  • Actively engage with colleagues in the brokerage, appraisal, and investor community with a view to expanding relationships, gathering market intelligence, and promoting Fiera Real Estate.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Commerce, or Real Estate;
  • Professional designation (MBA, CFA and/or Appraisal) earned or in progress, an asset;
  • One (1) or two (2) years of relevant experience in investment, finance, or real estate;
  • Strong experience reviewing and analyzing commercial leases;
  • Real Estate acquisition underwriting and due diligence experience;
  • Demonstrated transaction structuring knowledge and experience would be beneficial;
  • Proficiency with financial and real estate evaluation tools (e.g. Argus Enterprise, Excel);
  • Analytics experience at both the asset and portfolio levels and experience with cash flow modelling; building and developing models;
  • Broad understanding of Canadian financial and investment markets;
  • Strong networking and relationship development skills.
