Modern Niagara is currently looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Procurement department based within our Ottawa office.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Procurement, the Senior Financial Analyst - Procurement will work closely with the procurement management team on monitoring and reporting all aspects of the procurement life cycle at Modern Niagara. This role will provide data reporting and analysis, assist in driving continuous improvement initiatives, and support insight-driven initiatives across the national Procurement practice.

The successful candidate will have experience in data analytics, identifying operational causation factors from trends, and leading reporting with management, ideally in the construction industry. They will empower procurement across the organization, raise awareness of key learnings, and drive efficiencies through procurement analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze company spending and provide financial reports to support management decision making
• Prepares financial data and summary information for use in management reporting for executive-level presentations across the organization
• Reviews monthly financial operating results, identifying key trends, variances, and areas of improved performance
• Create and analyze pricing and purchasing reports to help identify opportunities for price harmonization, discount and rebates, and other financial and non-financial performance improvements
• Runs various forecast scenarios through models and interprets financial impact. Executes on the weekly and monthly management reporting process, including dashboard development and financial results against budget and forecasts
• Work closely with the management team to develop and manage relevant KPIs to control and mitigate overspending
• Provide input on an ongoing basis for improvements/modifications to the cost controls policy & guidelines
• Help manage vendors’ rebates and early payments discount
• Identify and implement best practices to drive transformation across procurement processes and capabilities
• Foster strong relationships internally with and act as a strategic partner for the procurement team and cross-functional operational teams

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field may substitute for education only
• Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience as a financial analyst, ideally within a multi-regional organization, with knowledge of HVAC and plumbing materials preferred
• Advanced Excel skills, ability to work with lookups and pivot tables, including experience developing dynamic Excel-based models
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, evaluate results, and communicate a convincing story from the analysis of the data
• Advanced proficiency with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) and ability to adapt to procurement solutions
• Proven interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with cross-functional teams and to work with external vendors and influence stakeholders
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
• Highest level of integrity and transparency with a strong work ethic
