JOB SUMMARY

The Fleet Safety and Training Branch is responsible for managing the City’s Fleet Safety program, including vehicle safety, driver training and expectations, collision investigation and safety operation standards. The Branch is also responsible for maintaining the corporation’s Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration (CVOR) certification and ensuring ongoing compliance with all related provincial legislation.

You will work closely with stakeholders on continuous improvement strategies and provide expert insight into anticipated and future requirements. You will develop efficient and effective data management solutions and collaborative shared work environments, ensuring that the sharing of data respects confidentiality and privacy requirements.

You will research and evaluate new and emerging technologies and tools to ensure best in class services. You will provide recommendations, guidance and leadership to stakeholders on all issues related to streamlining processes and maximizing performance.

You are responsible for the development and delivery of Fleet Safety Regulatory Compliance Monitoring Programs, ensuring their alignment to all legislative requirements. This will include monitoring, investigating, researching best practices, interpreting data, and providing analysis and recommendations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4-year university degree in Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of related experience in Regulatory Compliance Monitoring Programs, preferably in transportation, fleet or related industry, including 2 years of experience in the field of data, dashboarding, and key performance indicator reporting.

Experience with process improvement, Lean Six-Sigma and/or project management is required

KNOWLEDGE

  • Regulatory and Compliance Monitoring Programs
  • Key performance indicators, as well as use of leading and lagging indicators to manage trends and risk
  • Corporate technology systems and databases, business intelligence and data visualization tools
  • Agile methodologies, as well as traditional project management principles, tools, and standards
  • Collaborative workspaces such as Microsoft, SHAREPOINT
  • Continuous Improvement methodologies, including PDCA
  • Records management systems
  • IT security and IT service management principles and standards
  • Records management systems
  • Centre of excellence approach to enabling an organization and customers to self serve analytics is highly desirable
    IT security and IT service management principles and standards
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties
    of workers

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Skilled with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView or related
  • Plan, organize, and schedule work
  • Work professionally with technical staff, consultants, and research partners
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with various stakeholders
  • Analytical skills in data interpretation and application.
  • Ability to undertake projects and tasks with minimal supervision
