The Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM), a francophone non-profit organization (NGO), is a mainstay in the deployment and promotion of knowledge to benefit Canadians' health, especially that of francophone minority communities. The ISM, created in 2014-15 and inaugurated in 2017, is a unique model based on collaboration between researchers and education specialists, facilitating the knowledge creation-dissemination continuum. The ISM's goal is to operate an institution dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge, while promoting the objectives of Hôpital Montfort as an academic institution. Its key areas of focus are research, education and continued professional development, related to the training continuum for healthcare professionals, the organization of healthcare services and the prevention of, screening for and treatment of physical and mental comorbidities. They believe that health should be considered from every aspect – i.e., physical, mental and social well-being. As the term of the current strategic direction (2016-21) draws to a close, a new strategic planning exercise will commence in 2020.
Against this backdrop, meant to foster the ideal operating climate, the ISM seeks a manager who will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Reporting to the ISM Board of Directors, the CEO's mandate is to control and manage the ISM, using an approach informed by the strategic direction set jointly with the Board of Directors. He/She will be responsible, in particular, for developing and fulfilling the ISM's mission, vision and strategic direction for education, continuous professional development and research, as approved by the Board, in line with the organization's values. The CEO's secondary mandate is to provide visionary, collaborative leadership in education, ongoing professional development and research, use of knowledge, development of a continuous learning culture and, in general terms, fully actualizing the attributes of a teaching hospital. He/She will fulfill this role by providing corporate expertise related to legislation, contractual commitments and policies, and relevant to the mission, vision and values of both the ISM and its partners, including Hôpital Montfort, which operates in a francophone minority community (within Ontario).
The ideal candidate is an experienced, inspiring manager with strong general management skills, especially in an NGO governance structure, and a thorough understanding of research and education issues in a teaching hospital context. The Chief Executive Officer will possess the skills needed to rigorously manage complex structures and decision-making processes, while factoring in all internal and external issues specific to this setting and ensuring adherence to government, regulatory and accreditation-related policies, as well as those of professional organizations.
As a visionary with an entrepreneurial spirit, the CEO will be able to plan for the future from both a strategic and tactical perspective. He/She will be highly dynamic, both people- and results-oriented, and able to manage change effectively. This highly credible and much-respected individual is recognized for his/her integrity, objectivity, fairness, tremendous emotional intelligence, political acumen and outstanding communication skills in both official languages. Impassioned about teaching and research, the CEO's influence and inspiring, collaborative leadership will be essential to attaining the ISM's excellence objectives and promoting each person's commitment to this shared objective.
To be considered for this position, please send your application, along with the related documentation, to ***********@******.***, specifying the position title in the subject line of your email.
