What you'll do
It's safe to say, there's no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of financial data and metrics for Store Operations providing support for accounting/reporting functions including budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing variances/trends to help monitor revenues and expenses, as well as partnering Store Operations leadership to develop and lead potential initiatives and projects.
  • Partners with the Store Operations and leverages depth and breadth of expertise and variety of data sources to perform complex data and trend analysis related to store payroll, and other discretionary expenses to help make more informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Understands a variety of business trends and their impacts when preparing accurate payroll budgets for store scheduling, Rolling Plan and Original Plan purposes by partnering with multiple business units, Store Ops leadership and ensuring all store attributes and assumptions are incorporated.
  • A trusted advisor to business partners to provide financial support for workforce efficiency projects by manipulating and developing the payroll model and finding ways to enhance forecast accuracies.
  • Prepares and presents all reporting and analysis related to Store Payroll to Store Operations Senior Leadership, Field and Finance leadership.
  • Leads the Store Ops and Field capital budgets and monthly forecasting and reporting.
  • Partners with Managers and/or AVPs when gathering business needs and communicating results.
  • Develops complex business models and analysis which facilitate Senior Executives' decision making and short and long term strategies.
  • Ad-hoc reporting for executives, Store Operations department and the regional leadership

What you'll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:

  • Post-secondary education in related field e.g., Business Administration, Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance/Accounting, Engineering, or other quantitative discipline).
  • CPA designation or MBA is considered an asset; working towards a relevant financial designation will be considered.
  • Minimum four years of experience in financial planning, reporting and analysis; within the retail industry is a strong asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), retail and cost accounting methods with ability to develop and lead tactical initiatives with Finance leadership guidance; knowledge in statistical theory and/or Econometric type analysis considered an asset.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills including analysis of information and research skills with knowledge of design/manipulation concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills including change management, time management; ability to implement and manage details, prioritize, and multi-task with limited supervision and under time pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently; estimate time required to complete projects; follow up on assignments and keep appropriate team members up to date and aware of progress.
  • Strong computer skills including excellent spreadsheet (MS Excel) skills, knowledge of accounting software and experience with data visualization and budgeting tools (e.g. Power BI, TM1)
