Specific accountabilities

Reporting to the Marketing Director, Ontario and Nova Scotia, the selected candidate will be responsible for executing the national marketing strategy as appropriate to Mic Mac Mall and Dartmouth's market needs. Anchoring their work in performance-driving tactics, you will be deemed successful when you will (a) exceeds the targeted objectives of each program and (b) helps to reposition the centre's brand in the minds of the shopping centre's shoppers, retailers and community.

As the brand agent for Ivanhoé Cambridge and for Mic Mac Mall within the community, it is critical that you represent the company and its strategy well amongst all stakeholders you encounters. To do so, you will need to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and retailers, alike, at the property and with key partners (the media, suppliers, community organizers) throughout the region. Further, it will be essential for you to collaborate with other marketing leaders both at other properties and within the corporate team.

Main duties include: 

  • Optimizing the centre's performance:

  • Working closely with the Marketing Director, Ontario and Nova Scotia and the Manager, Marketing Planning to ensure that:

  • Details of forthcoming retailer activities (store openings, moves, closures) are captured, prioritized with the plan and featured on the centre's digital channels;

  • Retailer sales reports and percentage-rent analyses are well understood and up to date;
  • Centre revenues and marketing activity expenses are tracked and recognized in the budget;
  • Oversee the delivery and execution of the National Gift Card programs and campaigns
  • Boosting centre revenue (and/or gain cost savings) in partnership with the Manager, Speciality Leasing;
  • Using insight from past activities when contributing in the design of future strategies and partnerships;
  • Owning the full execution of the property's marketing activities:

  • Delivering marketing programs as defined and directed by Marketing Leadership team;

  • Identifying, sourcing, and managing suppliers who will facilitate – as needed – the installation, tear-down, hosting and execution tasks before, during and after each event and/or campaign;
  • Working with property operations team to implement campaign elements (e.g. signage) throughout the shopping centre;
  • Maintaining consistent tracking/reporting/recaps of the campaign's performance;
  • Re-shifting the brand's position in the minds of local shoppers, retailers, and community leaders by:

  • Maintaining positive and strong working relationships with store managers and employees;

  • Building relationships with key community leaders and organizations, supporting key community initiatives, and acting as the primary contact for all donation and community booth requests at the property;
  • Capturing digital content to be featured on the centre's website and social media channels;
  • Working with Guest Services to ensure that all customer queries made on digital platforms are responded to as per established guidelines;
  • Building relationships with key regional tourism and hospitality trade partners.

Key requirements

  • University degree expected; however, a combination of education and related experience will be considered;
  • A customer-focused project manager with at least 3 years experience. Experience with marketing in the field of retail or shopping centers will be considered an asset;
  • Clear and Focused: strong project management skills, detailed-oriented and well-organized;
  • Business Acumen: good understanding of financial statements and accounting principles;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: comfortable with engaging with and selling to multiple internal and external stakeholder groups;
  • Flexible: Due to the nature of the business and extended operating hours, the Marketing Manager must be available to work after hours and weekends, as required;
  • Oral and written proficiency in English.
