Director of Operations  | Wild Abandon Jewelry 

Located in beautiful Victoria, BC, the Wild Abandon team is a community of individuals following their passions, striving to inspire others near and far who share a love for unique jewelry. Devon Amelia is our creator and designer. She began selling her jewelry designs when she was six years old outside her parents' home on Dallas Road in Victoria. In 2002 Devon Amelia tapped into her passion for travel and design to start Wild Abandon. All our creations are designed in Victoria and made both locally and in destinations she visits. 

We are currently seeking a Director of Operations to join our energetic team. Reporting to the Owner, this role is a critical role in the company and touches on everything operational, from managing our wonderful team, budgets & reporting, and providing the necessary analytics support to the key functions of the company. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Streamlining and improving business processes. 

  • Spearheading long-term business planning. 

  • Analyzing the effectiveness of existing business functions in order to facilitate and sustain an organization's growth. 

  • Improving the business processes for each department through analysis and collaboration. 

  • Assisting in long-term business planning at the managerial level. 

  • Developing a financial plan. 

  • Analyzing the performance of support functions for each department. 

  • Managing all aspects of day to day operation. 

  • Implementing lean measures and inventory management to minimise stock holding and free up working capital. 

  • Researching opportunities for cost savings across the business. 

  • Developing leadership and coaching programmes to increase employee effectiveness and engagement. 

  • Ensuring all quality controls are met for every product. 

  • Maintaining inventory control and reporting as per Wild Abandon fiscal schedule. 

  • Recruiting, hiring, orientating, appraising, coaching of all employees, in consultation with the HR Department, in accordance with Company and Government standards. 

  • Building and maintaining a strong Customer Service driven team. 

  • Liaising with the on-site client as required and / or as requested. 

  • Training and regular performance evaluations of all Support Service Staff. 

  • Completing payroll, period summaries and sales reports in a timely and accurate manner. 

  • Maintain appropriate budgetary and cost controls. 

  • Provide regular operations reports to the Owner. 

  • Flexibility to meet business needs, mornings, evenings and weekends could be required at times. 

  • Managing, maintaining & growing existing customer relationships within the assigned territory. 

  • Facilitating & managing the development of new customer relationships via territory Sales & Marketing efforts. 

Key Skills Required 

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written). 

  • Ambitious, self-started with passion for the jewelry industry. 

  • Strong problem solving, organization and coordination skills. 

  • Excellent leadership, coaching and supervisory abilities. Positive energetic personality. 

  • Proven expertise in team building and employee engagement. 

  • Excellent attention to detail 

  • Solid understanding of confidentiality and other professional codes of conduct 

  • Abilities in data analysis, report creation and presentation development. 

  • Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting and metrics. 

Experience, Education, Certifications 

  • A minimum of two (2) years Senior Management experience and directing a team in a related field. 

  • Preference for candidates with a 2 year or more Hospitality or Business Diploma/Degree 

Other Details 

  • Requires the successful completion of a criminal background check. 

This position would be perfect for an experienced Director of Operations or Business Person who is interested in a shareholder and/or commission-based relationship.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year
