Role Description

The Analyst, Portfolio Reporting - Real Estate Debt will report to the SVP Finance and be responsible for supporting the Real Estate Debt business and executive teams with all management reporting for the Real Estate Debt portfolio. This position will work closely with Real Estate Debt Portfolio Investment Management, Portfolio Operations, Portfolio Accounting, Valuations and Real Estate Equity Portfolio Management teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in portfolio reporting across QuadReal.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the Real Estate Debt business and key stakeholder needs and deliverables and create and maintain a framework, structure, and processes to produce accurate and timely reporting & insights to the management team
  • Prepare management reports to be provided to the Portfolio Investment Management team, CEO/CFO and ultimately, the QuadReal Board of Directors, QuadReal Audit Committee and BCI
  • Lead business initiatives to streamline and improve efficiency of reporting and processes, including driving automation and technology solutions. Projects may include designing and creating tools for portfolio reporting, creating custom automations for portfolio reporting dashboards and analytics
  • Create and maintain a Smartsheet reporting calendar identifying all reporting deliverables, dates, and stakeholders involved across business teams
  • Collaborate with other business teams in collecting and validating operational and performance data from various internal and external sources
  • Computing AUM, performance measurement, operating metrics, and other KPI’s as required for reporting
  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting and analysis tied to key business needs and executive management requests
  • Support QuadReal’s agenda for deriving insights at the portfolio level by contributing to scenario modelling, what-if analysis, and modelling efforts being led by the Portfolio Investment Management Analysts
  • Support mortgage investment underwriting teams and portfolio impact analysis as needed
  • Is comfortable working with others with differing opinions; exhibits a collaborative approach by offering opposing ideas in a negotiable manner
  • Other duties as required

Education and Qualifications

  • Education – University degree with major in business, finance, accounting, mathematics, or economics;
  • Experience: 1-3 years background in a finance/analyst role with experience in portfolio reporting and analysis in one or more of the following areas; mortgages or real estate investment, equity/ fixed investment management, fund services, investment consulting or pension plan sponsor;
  • Presentation Skills – proficient in Powerpoint and ability to prepare insightful reporting for management. Creative, responsive and adaptive presentation skills with ability to translate stakeholder requirements into reporting deliverables and present financial information to non financial users;
  • Analytical Skills – Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills; be resourceful in seeking and consolidating information from a variety of sources. Able to grasp complex issues and the bigger picture and problem solve;
  • Technology Skills – Strong systems savvy, knowledge in delivery technologies and data access, proficient with accounting/financial systems, ERP, analytical tools, BI tools and MS Office applications. Advanced knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint, experience with Yardi, PLM or other similar software and BI and/or Corporate Performance Measurement (CPM) tools considered a plus;
  • Finance Skills – Good working knowledge of financial reporting, financial analysis, business concepts and performance metrics. Thorough understanding of accounting/finance principles (IFRS, GAAP) and practices;
  • Relationship Skills – Superior oral and written communication skills; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with all personalities; ability to exercise strict confidentiality;
  • Interest in real estate finance and financial markets
  • Organizational/Multi-Task Skills – Accurate and detail-oriented ; ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure, manage and meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, and adapt to new ideas and constant changes; ability to use initiative and self-management skills to work independently with minimal direction and respond effectively to issues that arise.
