We are currently seeking an Analyst (FWC) to join our team.

The Analyst has the primary responsibility for gathering, analysing and summarising financial and operational information and performing industry research to assist in the evaluation of subordinated debt and mezzanine financing opportunities. The Analyst adds value by providing decision making support for the First West Capital team in growing a high-quality book of business and ongoing risk management of the existing portfolio of clients.

Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day

1. Financial data aggregation and analysis: Collects, compiles and presents financial information in a consistent format; identifies trends and extracts key data points that enable the Origination and Associate team to conduct analysis. Calculates and summarises basic credit metrics and financial ratios to aid in financial analysis. Performs data aggregation that includes inputting client information into established templates and transcribes any additional client inputs.

2. Due Diligence and Research: Assists in the research of company and industry information as part of due diligence, gathering market insights on industry trends, developments and competitor activity. Assists in the research for other ad hoc projects with respect to client relationship management, marketing and operational functions within the team.

3. Portfolio Management: Performs ongoing monitoring for a portfolio of existing clients. Sets up accounts in the system for the purpose of tracking financial covenants over the life of the investment. Assists in the completion of monthly, quarterly and annual reviews on all assigned accounts and monitors financial and operational performance on a regular basis. Maintains financial databases for an assigned portfolio of clients. Services on-going needs of clients as part of ongoing account management and provides timely responses to investee enquiries. Liaises with internal stakeholders on portfolio monitoring and ongoing account maintenance.

4. Deal Documentation: Assists in the compilation of credit applications, memorandums, letters, notices and other credit and loan documentation, providing summaries and own recommendations/conclusions where relevant. Takes minutes at credit committees and other credit sittings and client meetings. The Analyst will participate in live deals and may be required to travel occasionally.

5. Ad hoc projects: Provides support on special projects including those related to: customer relationship management, systems and processes, operational projects, finance and risk management.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Finance and/or Accounting)
CA, CFA or CBV Designation
2 - 3 years of relevant industry experience (accounting/finance/banking preferred)
Applied knowledge of financial analysis
Strong proficiency with MS Office
Impeccable understanding of financial statements, ratios, cash flows and concepts and the ability to compile the three financial statements.
Data Accuracy and Attention to Detail – enters data with utmost accuracy; provides detailed information without errors and allocates data points to the correct location. Troubleshoots any inconsistencies and reconciles adjustments where required.
Communication Effectiveness: Communicates effectively with all members of the First West Capital team; takes direction well from Originators and Associates, clarifies understanding to ensure the scope of work completed will meet their expectations. Ability to establish effective working relationships and work effectively in a team environment.
Timeliness and Organization - completes all tasks within the timeframes requested and maximizes efforts through priority setting and effective organization of the work.
