About the Role:

OEG is searching for a Part-Time Event Electrician to join our team and be responsible for all aspects of facility electrical to support events in our two outdoor venues – the ICE District Plaza and Fan Park! Reporting to the Supervisor, Electrical, the Events Electrician has responsibility for the operation and repair of Rogers Place & ICE District during events.

Set at the confluence of Rogers Place Arena, the JW Marriott Hotel, and Stantec Tower – ICE District Plaza is the new town square of downtown Edmonton. With over 50,000 sq. ft. of space, the ICE District Plaza is perfectly suited to host markets, festivals, concerts, and any other large gathering. The spectacular setting and central location can accommodate groups of five to five thousand, with all necessary amenities just steps away.

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Serve as one of the on-site electricians for Rogers Place & ICE District events
  • Inspect operating function to evaluate efficiency methods
  • Investigates, analyzes and resolves operational and maintenance issues
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System for electrical systems
  • Knowledgeable in all regulations such as building codes, fire and health department regulations, OH&S, etc.
  • Strong technical abilities with Microsoft programs and familiarization with computerized maintenance systems and assets
  • Lead by example by displaying a high standard of performance with the ability to communicate expectations to the team to achieve results
  • Knowledgeable in show power for concert and ice arena cam lock assemblies

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Valid Province of Alberta Journeyman Electrician certificate is required
  • High School or Technical School diploma or combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sports facility operation is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and results oriented
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons and facts
  • Available on weekends and holidays during the day
