As a key player in financing and business development, you will use your talent and creativity to make a real impact on the success of Canadian Technology sector entrepreneurs.  You will use your strong relationship skills and network of contacts in the technology sector to identify opportunities to accelerate Canadian Technology Sector entrepreneurs' growth and develop business opportunities in both financing and consulting.   • Meet with entrepreneurs, clients and prospects in the technology sector, and discuss with them the specifics of their business in order to identify the issues, provide them with value-added advice and identify, if applicable, a BDC offering appropriate to their needs;

  • Source, structure, and recommend mezzanine debt by formulating a proposal, confirming the opportunity through due diligence and managing the financing after closing until exit.

  • Be active in the local business community by effectively networking within various associations and chambers of commerce in order to develop business relationships and obtain references that will facilitate new client acquisition. 

  • Create and execute your own business development plan, which will allow you to ensure the growth and retention of current clients in your portfolio while acquiring new clients and creating a business opportunity pipeline; 

  • Internally build collaborative relationships with BDC's Venture Capital and Growth & Transition financing teams to better serve clients with a BDC wide approach;

If you can answer YES to the following questions, you could be the person we are looking for!

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, MBA an asset

  • Professional designation is an asset (CPA, CBV and/or CFA)

  • Do you have experience working with technology companies to understand their unique needs and match to solutions according to their stage of development and specific technology?

  • Are you connected with experts in the technology ecosystem and able to help SMEs in this sector to access resources based on their needs?

  • Professional experience in private equity, mid-market corporate finance, corporate development, corporate lending and alternative lending would be considered an asset. 

  • Sound financing, credit and investment judgment

  • Do you have a demonstrated ability in business development and delivering on your objectives?

  • Do your clients and business contacts remember you because your advice works and you provide outstanding customer service?

  • Are you a team player who creates effective and lasting relationships with your peers, business contacts and external partners?

  • Are you a strong negotiator who is focused on results? 

  • Are you Bilingual (English & French)?
