About this opportunity Reporting to the Senior Manager, Tax, the Senior Financial Analyst plays an integral role on the Tax and Financial Reporting team. This role is responsible for assisting in the management of corporate tax, indirect tax compliance and reporting across multiple provinces within a large Canadian group. This is a hybrid position with three days per week in office. Salary range: $85,000–$95,000 per year Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day * Corporate and Partnership Tax Compliance and reporting * Gather and collate information required for Canadian corporate income tax and partnership tax returns. * Calculation of tax distributions and dividends to partners. * Calculate current tax provisions, analyze variances, processing tax journals and support month-end financial close. * Monthly reconciliations of Tax Provision general ledger accounts. * Prepare Working Papers accurately to facilitate smooth submission for tax returns to be completed. * Prepare monthly GST/HST and QST filings. * Monthly reconciliations of GST/HST/PST general ledger accounts. * Maintain monthly records of Legal Entity Tax Attributes. * Assist team in collating information required from tax authorities during audits and enquiries. * Conduct technical tax research when required. * Foster discussions with colleagues within Finance and Tax to help drive process improvements. * Assistance with corporate tax payments (when required) and GST/HST payments, when due. * Financial Reporting: * Monthly tracking of fixed asset additions, transfers, retirements. * Run monthly depreciation and amortization calculations. * Reconcile Fixed Asset Continuity schedules to the general ledger. * Prepare reconciliation between accounting and tax movement in Fixed Assets to support Schedule 8 of the corporation tax return. * Support the Group’s Capital Management Cycle (project approval, account analysis, analyse capex versus opex, etc.) * Involvement in ad hoc Financial Projects, where required. Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or Management and possess a CPA designation or be enrolled in the program. A minimum of 2 to 3 years of accounting or financial analysis experience is required along with advanced Excel skills.
