Job summary

REPS support construction job seekers with skills training, employer connections, and ongoing follow-up to help them find and keep employment. REPS work closely with training providers, community organizations, and employers to build relationships that connect job seekers with hiring companies. Delivered by the BC Construction Association (BCCA), the Skilled Trades Employment Program (STEP) is BC’s leading construction job-matching program. With 10 REPS across seven regional offices, STEP connects skilled trades employers with job-ready candidates and supports under-represented individuals in accessing apprenticeship opportunities. Key Responsibilities Developing and maintaining strong connections with local employers, educators, and community service providers Promoting STEP through presentations, outreach, and community engagement Participant recruitment Assessing job seekers for program eligibility/suitability and helping them build tailored action plans Coaching participants on soft skills, job search techniques, interview preparation, and workplace expectations Connecting candidates with meaningful trades employment Conducting site visits and supporting employer-employee success on the job Data entry into CRM database, maintaining accurate files and reporting in line with program requirements Representing STEP at community events and local initiatives Qualifications Understanding of BC’s apprenticeship system (SkilledTradesBC) Knowledge of the regional construction sector and employment trends Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data entry Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle (travel is required) Clear criminal record check Ability to wear PPE and perform construction site visits as required Bonus: Experience in the construction industry, skilled trades, employment services, and/or journeyperson certification Core Competencies Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills Self-motivation with strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills Familiarity with working efficiently both independently and as part of a team Computer literacy Resourcefulness, adaptability Strong problem-solving skills Ability to meet deadlines Working Conditions BCCA is currently allowing employees to work from home or at the office, or in a hybrid situation. Travel within Vancouver Island is required. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required. Physical requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods.

Requirements

Candidates must have a valid Class 5 driver's license, a clear criminal record check, and knowledge of BC's apprenticeship system. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to perform construction site visits wearing PPE are required.
